Bimblebox 153 Birds
The Bimblebox 153 Birds Project was started in 2013 by Jill Sampson to bring support and attention to the plight of the birdlife in the Bimblebox Nature Refuge in far eastern Queensland.
If Waratah Coal’s China First coalmine is developed over the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, this wildlife haven will be almost completely destroyed.
As part of the project 153 Printmakers were sent a name each of one species of bird spotted on the refuge and asked to create a print.
I was sent the Phaesant Coucal.
So far the collection has been shown in Brisbane at the State Library of Queensland with plans to tour further afield. Keep your ears and eyes peeled!
